PTGES2 functions as an isomerase that converts PGH2 to PGE2 in vitro. However, its biological role and GSH dependence remain debated. In vivo, PTGES2 may form a complex with GSH and heme, potentially losing PGE2 synthesis activity. Instead, it might catalyze the degradation of PGH2 into 12(S)-hydroxyheptadecatrienoic acid (HHT) and malondialdehyde (MDA). |
